Speaking Engagements
We occasionally receive questions about Kristie's availability to speak to women's groups at church or Bible study events. We hope you will find the following information helpful.
Please contact us with further questions at info@inpraiseministries.com or by calling 402-292-2244 or 888-792-2244.
Scheduling
Because of church and family responsibilities, Kristie is available for only a limited number of speaking engagements,
and we appreciate as much advance notice as possible.
Topics
For conference-style events, Kristie presents material from the following sets of lectures/workshops. Each set has an introductory lecture which gives the theme and background information for the series. Then, groups may select further material for the rest of the sessions. For instance, for a conference with four sessions, a group would hear the introductory lesson from one lecture set, along with three sub-topics of their choice from that set. Please allow approximately one hour per session.
For shorter events, note that most of Kristie's material can stand alone, so you may request any one or two of the lectures/workshops listed below.
Forgotten Treasures Rediscovering a Passion for Some of God's Most Precious Gifts
Introductory lecture:
Be Impressed!
Many believers today have largely forgotten the magnificence and greatness of the Lord God. One of the ways that God most powerfully reveals His greatness is through his work in creation. This session takes hearers on a moving walk through the Bible to passages that speak of God as Creator and applies each magnificent passage about God's creative work to life, faith, and discipleship.
Further sessions:
The Excellencies of the Conscience
This is an introduction to the biblical teachings about the conscience along with exhortations, illustrations and practical helps for keeping your conscience pure and undefiled.
Holy Arguing: Stirring the Heart to Plead With God
This session examines several pleas found in Scripture and identifies biblical grounds on which we may base pleas for our own lives and for the lives of those we love. It ends with several examples of how we can powerfully, yet humbly, bring our concerns before the throne of God. Note: This lecture is the same as "Please Lord: Pleading in Prayer for Those We Disciple." Some examples are different.
Love that Surpasses Knowledge
The apostle Paul clearly expressed why he lived for God rather than himself: the love of Christ compelled him to do so. Beginning with 2 Corinthians 5:14, this session explores Paul's mindset and teaching on the love of Christ. This same love should compel and constrain every believer to live for God!
Spiritual Comfort (Part One and Part Two. Requires two hour-long sessions)
God designed people to need comfort. Why? Because each and every trial or trouble is meant to drive us to God for the comfort we need! These sessions reveal divine provisions for comfort, examine ways of abusing comforts, and equip believers to share God's comfort with others.
Living Beautifully: Aligning our Lives with the Plans and Purposes of God
Introductory lecture:
Biblical Meditation: A Beautiful Discipline
One of God's most precious gifts is the ability to think, reason and reflect; the biblical command to meditate calls us to do just that! Biblical meditation is essential as we strive to align our lives with God's purposes, reflect Christ's beauty, and live for His glory. In addition to examining Scripture passages about meditation, this session employs a number of quotations and illustrations from Puritan literature to help women more clearly understand this holy calling. This session also features practical helps for incorporating biblical meditation into daily life. Note: Some sessions in this series require a white board or overhead transparency projector.
Further sessions:
The Beauty of a Heart that Fears the Lord
In the busyness of life today, the fear of the Lord too easily becomes a forgotten priority and neglected pursuit; nevertheless, it is essential if we desire to live beautifully, aligning our lives with the plans and purposes of God! This session defines the fear of the Lord, identifies the astounding differences it can make, and equips believers to grow in their fear of the Lord. Note: The below session "Recognizing a Woman Who Fears the Lord" is an optional companion session.
Recognizing a Woman Who Fears the Lord
Bookended by brief lectures, the body of this session contains an interactive look at the Proverbs 31 woman. The session encourages growth in personal fear of the Lord as participants identify thoughts and actions that accompany a strong fear of the Lord. Note: This is an optional second part of the above session "The Beauty of a Heart that Fears the Lord." It can proceed in a large group format led by Kristie or in a small group format (4-6 participants and one leader per group). If breaking into small groups, allow an additional ten minutes for this session.
Eyes to See: Living According to a Biblical Worldview
Whether they know it or not, all people have a worldview. To live beautifully, believers must learn to live in the light of a biblical worldview. This session defines and explains four basic elements of a worldview, examines Scripture passages relevant to each of those elements, and memorably pictures the not-so-beautiful results of living outside of the truth of God.
When Beauty Fades: Turning an Unresponsive Heart Toward God-Centered Passions
What do you do when you come to the Word of God or prayer...and find your heart unresponsive? What do you do when you know you should be in the Word and be changed by the Word, but you don't see it happening? This session equips believers with the tools and thoughts necessary for turning an unresponsive heart toward God.
Discipleship: Our Precious Duty
Introductory lecture:
"Where Do I Start?" Laying the Foundation for Effective Discipleship
God calls all believers to be actively involved in discipleship. This session considers that call along with biblical examples and instructions for discipleship, the purposes of discipleship, the characteristics of a good discipler, and more.
Further sessions:
Vital Truths Every Discipler Must Know and Share This session is a fast-paced look at key concepts and vital truths that disciplers will put to use time and time again as they use God's Word to teach, exhort, encourage, correct, reprove and train in righteousness.
A Perilous Privilege: Overcoming the Pitfalls of Growing Up in a Christian Home
God has uniquely blessed the believing family and designed it so that a great number of children come to faith in Christ through the discipling ministry of their parents. Yet this privileged environment can also lead to unique struggles. This session explores five tendencies common to children raised in a Christian home, examines crucial reasons to address these tendencies, and provides insight and practical, biblical help for encouraging the next generation to desire and reflect the beauty of the Lord.
Precious Relationship: Thoughts on Loving Your Children
Utilizing an acrostic of the word "CHILDREN" this 14-minute devotion reminds women of several privileges and responsibilities involved with loving their children. A time for Q&A concludes the session. (Designed to follow the lecture "A Perilous Privilege.")
Teaching Children a Biblical Fear of the Lord: Practical Ideas for Effective Discipleship
One of the most important goals in discipleship is to lead others to a biblical fear of the Lord. Based on Deuteronomy 4:9-10, 39-40 and various other passages, this session begins by providing a clear understanding of the fear of the Lord and its importance. The major emphasis, however, is on practical suggestions, not only for teaching children a biblical fear of the Lord, but also for teaching them how to study the Bible, meditate and pray.
Please Lord!: Pleading in Prayer for Those We Disciple
Intercessory prayer is a major part of a discipler's work. We must understand how to plead in prayer in order to make sure that our heartfelt requests for the temporal or spiritual situations of those we love are also God-exalting and God-focused. A biblical plea divinely stirs the heart to humbly and fervently present Scriptural arguments before God. This session examines several pleas found in Scripture and identifies biblical grounds on which we may base our own pleas. It ends with several examples of how we can best pray for the needs of those we disciple. Note: This lecture is the same as "Holy Arguing: Stirring the Heart to Plead with God." Some examples are different.
